The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art seeks Part-time Assistant Registrar
The Carle seeks a part-time Assistant Registrar to support the Collections Manager & Registrar with documentation and physical care of the museum art collections and loans. Primary duties include generating, tracking, and maintaining electronic and paper documentation for accessions, preparing permanent collection items for exhibition, and processing outgoing loans. The Assistant Registrar will also provide data entry, administrative and art handling support as needed with the processing of temporary loan exhibitions as well as assist with general monitoring and organization of the collection.
Applicants should demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and the ability to monitor their own work to ensure quality. Candidates should be well organized, able to prioritize and meet deadlines, and comfortable working independently and proactively in a fast-paced team environment. Candidates should have a minimum of one year working in a museum registration, collections management or curatorial department (a Bachelor’s degree in art history, museum studies or related field, and two or more years’ experience preferred); he/she should also be computer proficient with database experience and have working knowledge of museum standard registration methods. This non-benefited position is approximately 20 hours per week.
