The Brinton Museum's Curator of Exhibitions/Preparator will work with the director, museum educator, registrar, and other curatorial staff in originating, organizing and installing exhibitions related to the institution’s permanent collection of art and artifacts in the holdings of The Brinton Museum; work with museum staff in originating exhibits; responsible for communicating with artists, institutions and private collectors concerning exhibit details and The Brinton Museum policies as they relate to exhibit programs; willing to work a flexible schedule as required.
Job Requirements
3 – 5 years museum employment in the field of exhibitions or related fine arts experience relevant to originating, organizing and installing art exhibits; a working knowledge of archival materials and the ability to prepare artwork for exhibition (framing, matting and installation); excellent communication skills; a strong understanding of professional museum standards; and a strong ability to work in a team environment.

The Brinton Museum (formerly The Bradford Brinton Memorial & Museum) located at the foothills of the majestic Bighorn Mountains is comprised of art, artifacts, rare books and documents collected by Bradford Brinton (1880 – 1936) during the years he owned (1923-1936) the Quarter Circle A Ranch. The collection features a superb representation of Western and Native American art and includes outstanding paintings, prints, and works in bronze by numerous artistic masters including Frederic Remington, Charles M. Russell, E. W. “Bill” Gollings, Edward Borein, and Hans Kleiber. The Native American collections represent a range of artifacts from the Plains Indians as well as Tlingit, Nez Perce, Navajo, Apache, and Hopi tribes. The impressive Goelet and Edith Gallatin Collection of Native American Art will soon join the institution’s holdings. The Main Ranch House and the historic outbuildings typical of a gentleman’s working ranch continue as educational points of interest to visitors. A new 23,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art building to be completed by the end of 2014 opens to visitors in June 2015 and includes spacious exhibit galleries, library, archives and art storage for current and future collections, gift shop and bistro. The Brinton Museum is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization funded mainly by donations.
