Assistant Registrar
Assists the Registrar with the documentation and care of the museum’s collections and loans; manages all rights and reproduction requests; maintains collection inventories and department budgets; assists curatorial staff with installation and exhibition-related tasks.
Major Duties
• Oversee all aspect of all imaging of the permanent collection and rights and reproduction requests
• Provide administrative support to curatorial department by processing payments and tracking expenses
• Assist with inventory, database management, and works with interns on related projects.
• Provide and researches information on collections for curatorial staff, scholars and the public and assist with access to the collection for scholars and select public
• Maintain environmental monitoring records of the museum galleries and storage areas
• Assist with execution of condition reports on objects entering or leaving the Museum, and with monitoring the permanent collection.
• Assist with handling and unpacking of museum objects.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Museum Studies or related field
• Two years of registration/collections care experience in a museum setting
• Experience handling museum objects
• Knowledge of collections management systems and Adobe Photoshop
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Art History
• Prior experience with Rights and Reproduction
• Working knowledge of TMS and Adobe InDesign
