The WCMFA seeks a part-time Exhibitions and Collections Assistant to assist with an active exhibition schedule of approximately twelve rotating exhibitions, including two juried exhibitions, annually as well as permanent installations. Will also assist with all aspects of managing the museum’s permanent collection, database, and records; including stewardship, accessioning, and deaccessioning; preparation of outgoing and incoming loans; as well as perform other duties as assigned.
Exhibitions Management:
• Assist in the planning and mange the implementation of all exhibitions, including, but not limited to, designing exhibition layouts; determining exhibition hardware and case needs; creating, formatting, and mounting labels; and installing exhibitions
• Assist with writing exhibition texts, labels, and press information
• Assist with exhibition loans
• Assist with two juried exhibitions annually
Collections Management:
• Assist with care of the collection, including proper handling, storage, and display of all objects in the collection and loans
• Assist with collections database and records
• Provide support for researching works of art and preparation of reports
Other Duties, including, but not limited to: Work collaboratively with other museum staff on website, social media, and other public outreach
Position is funded for 10 days per month. Some flexibility in work scheduling will be required.



Job RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in art history, museum studies, or related field.
• 1-3 years museum experience in museum exhibitions and collections
• Training in proper art handling practices for variety of fine arts objects
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign and PhotoShop, Website, Facebook and other social media, and collections management databases, such as Past Perfect preferred
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to problem solve and work accurately under pressure
• Ability to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously
WORK SCHEDULE AND ENVIRONMENT
Position is funded for 10 days per month. Some flexibility in work scheduling will be required.
A criminal background check and drug test are required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.
The WCMFA operates with a small staff and many devoted volunteers. The work environment is busy and fast-paced; requires a person able to work well independently and within a team environment who can juggle multiple tasks, shuffle priorities when needed, set and meet deadlines, and allocate time judiciously.
