The Cleveland Museum of Art’s Collections Management department seeks a qualified candidate for its Assistant Registrar for Special Exhibitions position. The Assistant Registrar for Special Exhibitions is responsible for coordinating and managing loans to the museum for Special Exhibitions including those organized by CMA, those co-organized by CMA and partners, and those in which CMA is a venue. He/she is responsible for the planning and management of art transportation, insurance, lender relations and communications, art installation schedule, and the art transportation and insurance portions of the exhibition budget. He/she also provides assistance to the Director of Collections Management in keeping track of all objects within the collection and those coming into and going out of the museum.
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and preferably an Master’s degree in Art History or Museum Studies; one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates will also have a valid driver's license, possess good organizational, interpersonal, computer, and research skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines and work on several different projects simultaneously if needed. Prior knowledge of art history and experience in handling art is helpful.
