Job DescriptionThe Registrar position is responsible for all registrarial aspects of the ICA including research, procurement, transportation, insurance and implementation of exhibitions. This position will be responsible for coordinating all incoming traveling and in-house organized exhibitions including but not limited to: loan contract review, loan documentation, shipping logistics, insurance, installation, and couriers. Responsible for managing exhibition workflow and exhibition related data including creating condition, inventory, and installation manuals for traveling shows. Registrar assists with monitoring the museum's environment, maintaining dataloggers, and producing charts and related reports. Registrar will be required to travel (nationally or internationally) to serve as a Museum courier. Assignments are based on the needs of the Museum.
The position will work closely with Curatorial and Preparation staff, as well as artists and outside vendors.
The Registrar is supervised by the Director of Curatorial Affairs and works closely with the Chief Preparator, and other members of the Curatorial team on exhibitions.

Job RequirementsApplicant must be detail-oriented and sensitive to the necessity of accurate record-keeping with excellent written, oral, and auditory communication skills and possess the ability to see projects through to completion and ability to work well both with others and under own direction and to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workflow, both for self and for staff. Applicant must have the physical ability to see, handle, lift, push, pull, and carry objects; to crouch, climb, balance, and stand for long periods of time; and to participate in transportation of artworks and withstand various outdoor temperatures.
Bachelor’s Degree and previous registrarial experience required. Knowledge of museum standards regarding the care and handling of art, and of international exhibition and loan management vital. Strong computer skills and familiarity with databases, and image editing software important. Must have the ability to travel and work outside regular business hours, when necessary and to represent the museum in a professional manner to donors, lenders, professional colleagues, and all university constituencies. Salary commensurate with experience with comprehensive University of Pennsylvania benefits.
