Job DescriptionSummary:
Assists the Curatorial staff in maintaining galleries and exhibitions and in the installation, moving, packing and shipping of objects.
Job RequirementsResponsibilities:
Assists in maintaining the appearance and safety of the collections in all Museum galleries and exhibitions as well as at on-site and off-site storage.
Assists in the installation and changing of exhibitions and displays.
Assists in the moving of glass within the Museum and records the associated location changes for Registration.
Assists in periodic inventory of the collection.
Assists in the periodic cleaning of the collections.
With other members of the Collections Management staff, conducts daily inspections of galleries, checks cases and object positions.
Assists in changing case lighting as necessary.
Numbers objects after numbers are assigned by Registration.
Assists in the preparation, installation and maintenance of labels for exhibits and matting of display materials.
Unpacks objects received and packs objects to be shipped.
Couriers objects as required.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree desired.
Ability to handle and pack glass objects with care.
Knowledge of art history desired.
Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to work accurately in a timely manner.
General familiarity with computers and software.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as necessary.
