The International Museum of Art & Science, McAllen Texas, is currently looking for a motivated and dedicated individual who would want to make a difference in his/her community by joining the curatorial department as collection manager. IMAS maintains a strong bond with its membership and many institutions in the community. Here are the responsibilities and qualifications
Responsibilities:
Manages and supervises the care and use of the Museum’s collections by ensuring proper storage, handling and conservation techniques.
Assists with the physical operation of collection management and the library.
Maintains collections records and record-keeping systems in compliance with museum policies.
Assists in organizing collections into archival, identifiable locations.
Follows institutional procedures for care of collections to American Alliance of Museums standards.
Enters and maintains collection information into computer database system.
Works some weekends and evenings.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree and two years experience related to duties working with museum collections.
Experience with museum registration methods.
Exceptional organization skills.
Salary is dependent on candidates experience and qualifications.
