POSITION TITLE: ASSOCIATE REGISTRARREPORTS TO: RegistrarBASIC FUNCTION: The Associate Registrar assists the Registrar in the managementof the collection, loans and temporary exhibitions and isresponsible for a broad range of registration functions.. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Registrar and collaborates with the Preparator,Exhibitions Manager, Curators, Manager of the Research Center,and volunteers/interns.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Revise and update collections management database records Assist with collections inventory and maintaining collections storage Prepare correspondence, execute necessary documentation and coordinate logisticsincluding packing, shipping and insurance arrangements for loans Assist with environmental monitoring and reporting for storage and galleries Process and catalogue new acquisitions Coordinate and assist with gallery installations and temporary exhibitions Assist in collections conservation projects with contract conservators Process internal and external rights and reproduction requests and research copyrightfor objects. Coordinate for photography of the collection and add/update images indatabase Preparing budget information related to collections projects, loan preparation andtransportation Handle internal and external requests for information about the collection Serve as a courier for outgoing loans, as needed Other duties, as assigned by the RegistrarRevised: July 8, 2015QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Museum Studies or related field; M.A. and/or MuseumStudies certificate preferred Minimum of 4 years of museum registration experience Knowledge of ethics and professional practices governing museum registration, properart handling techniques, basic preventative conservation methods, fine art packing andshipping standards and experience condition reporting required Must be able to work in a fast‐paced environment with demonstrated ability to managemultiple competing tasks and demands Communicate and work with all levels of constituents effectively. Exceptional organizational skills; ability to set priorities and adapt as these prioritiesshift, handle multiple assignments and deadlines Display excellent judgment, while operating in a flexible and professional manner Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience with collection management systems.Knowledge of TMS is desirable. Ability to work occasional evenings and able to travel, when necessary Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 50lbs) and climb ladders Must possess a current driver’s license
