Summary of Position:
The Exhibitions Assistant will work closely with the Director, Curator of Exhibitions, and Lead Preparator and the UICAExhibitions Curator to produce high-quality exhibitions. The Exhibitions Assistant assists in preparation, security, installation, and de-installation of gallery exhibitions and other display materials. Key responsibilities include preparation and maintenance of exhibitions, safe transportation of artwork, and maintenance and repair of exhibition spaces. This is a part-time temporary, on call position for the KCAD and UICA Galleries.
Required Education:
BFA in Art, Art History, or Museum Studies.
Required Work Experience:
At least 1 year of progressively responsible experience in art handling, gallery or museum work.
Preferred Qualifications (include Education, Skills, Experience):
MFA in Art, Art History, or Museum Studies. Work experience with an emphasis on exhibition preparation/installation strongly preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
Proposed Salary: $13.00 per hour
