Job Summary:
The Exhibitions Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of museum exhibition installations and helps oversee the safe handling of all works of art in the museum. This position will serve as an integral role in the planning, preparation, and installation of galleries and outdoor sculpture programs. This position reports to the Associate Director/Curator of Exhibitions.
Essential Functions:


Serves as administrator for the exhibition in its planning stage, oversees the preparation of estimates for exhibitions budgets with regards to shipping, insurance, packing, crating, loan fees and courier costs
Oversees the logistics of the exhibitions execution, including design and graphics. [note moved order so design is before graphics, and planning is in previous function]
(Oversees the construction of exhibition furniture, gallery painting, lighting, and art handling and installation.
Handles installation related tasks in collaboration with the Museum’s Collections Manager and Associate Director/Curator of Exhibitions.
Responsible for the safe movement of art objects within the building and transport of artworks to and from the museum.



RequirementsEducations and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree is required; preferably in Art History.
A minimum of two years of museum work experience is required.
Previous art handling experience is required as well as administration of exhibitions.
Experience with digital photography and archiving is a plus.
Fluency in Spanish, including reading, writing, and speaking is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The position requires flexibility, and demonstrable hands-on abilities with a range of tasks.
Candidate must be prepared to work in both office and gallery settings, have the ability to adjust to new situations rapidly.
Must possess strong written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills to effectively work in both an academic and business setting.
Candidate must demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills that include multi-tasking with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and constituents concurrently.
Must possess a vigilant attention to detail along with a strong work ethic.
Candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with record-keeping and database management software is essential.
Travel for up to two weeks at a time, with occasional evening and weekend work.
Environmental and Physical Demands:
This position works around moving machinery, and must have the ability to bend, squat, stand, kneel, climb, walk for long distances, reach above shoulders, handle object (dexterity), push/pull, carry/lift 25 -50 lbs., and sit for long periods of time.
