When the North Carolina Museum of Art searched for talent to lead their exhibition design team, the road led them to Hillwood and we couldn’t be more flattered. Their good fortune can be yours as well. This has opened the door for someone ready to make their mark collaborating to deliver exhibitions that reflect Hillwood’s creative best.
Hillwood’s exhibition designer is charged with developing temporary exhibition projects as well as permanent collection displays incorporating the highest standards for museum practice in support of attendance, accessibility and academic rigor. Our mission of delighting and engaging visitors with an experience inspired by the life of our founder, Marjorie Post, and her passion for excellence, gracious hospitality, art, history and gardens, provides a broad tableau for your work.
RequirementsWe seek someone intellectually playful, imaginative and innovative who will embrace our collection and audiences. You will consider historic, intimate galleries and exhibition spaces as a challenge to be conquered not an impediment. An appreciation for the place of museums in the community and in society will underpin your work.
Your educational attainment will include a B.A. in the arts or relevant design discipline with post graduate work preferred. A combination of alternative degree, related training/education, credentials and/or experience may be considered. The successful candidate will have spent 5 – 7 years in a relevant design discipline building a successful track record leading design processes and producing highly-creative and stellar design products in line with budgetary and architectural confines. Work in a museum environment and/or work with decorative arts/design/material culture objects is a plus.
We are a progressive, equal opportunity employer and all candidates are encouraged to apply. So, come work “Where Fabulous Lives!” You will find detailed information related to responsibilities and requirements along with instructions on how to submit your cover letter and resume under the “Jobs & volunteering” tab on our website: www.hillwoodmuseum.org.
