The Sixth Floor Museum has an opening for a Collections & Exhibits Manager. This a regular, full-time position. The Collections & Exhibits Manager (CEM) is responsible for the daily care, maintenance, and preservation of the Museum’s collections. This position also manages, coordinates and supports logistics for exhibit development, including installation, design processes, and project schedules. The CEM is able to handle a variety of tasks related to the Museum’s collections and exhibition programs, while overseeing the day-to-day tasks of the Collections Cataloguer and other positions involved in collections-related activities.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree required in history, anthropology, museum studies, American studies or related field. Master’s preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of collections processing experience including handling of artifacts, documents, and images; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 2 years of experience coordinating and installing exhibits including managing schedules and contractors; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of and experience with basic museum cataloguing rules and standards.
Knowledge of and experience with museum display and exhibition techniques and standards.
Technical knowledge relating to digital image creation and management.
Knowledge of mount-making techniques and materials used for display of art, artifacts, documents, and images.
Prior experience working with collections management database software; TMS and eMuseum preferred.
Knowledge of American history; preferably associated with the Kennedy assassination.
Strong data management and time management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, to work as part of a team, and to lead a team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to lift 25 lbs.
