Rate: $23/hour

*This position is expected to have familiarity with woodworking and designing, building, and packing crates and pallets.

History Colorado is hiring three temporary, limited-term (temporary aide) positions to complete an IMLS funded grant project to move approximately 6,000 artifacts from Pueblo, CO to Denver.

The collection includes over 500 linear feet of archaeological material, mining artifacts, furniture, business artifacts, trunks, farm equipment, architectural materials, etc. These positions will be expected onsite in Pueblo to organize, pack, palletize/crate, and track objects for travel. HC will train for database, numbering systems, and other HC operations as well as forklift operation. All the positions will be conducting the basic packing/moving duties but the Fabricator and Registrar will have additional duties (as listed above).

Duties:
-Safely move, handle, and pack a wide range of artifacts, including oversized and heavy objects, from a variety of different shelving levels of mobile units and pallet racking
-Organize like-sized objects to make efficient use of space on pallets and crates
-Track object locations using inventory controls, packing lists, and an argus.net database
-Use pallet jacks, lifting straps, and forklift to remove items on top and middle level pallet racks

Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, history, art history, anthropology, or related field
-Must be organized and detail-oriented
-Must have experience handling museum collections, large collections preferred
-Demonstrated experience in team-work
-Ability to use ladders, work at different heights, work on your feet for 8 hours/day, crouch, and lift items weighing 50 lbs or more
-Must be able to successfully pass a background check
