GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Siouxland Heritage Museums invite applications for aMuseum Preparator to perform a variety of functions related to the design,security, construction, and installation of exhibit components. SALARY: $21.80- $23.48/Hour

SOME EXAMPLES OF DUTIES INCLUDE:
Plan and direct the fabrication, installation, security, anddisassembly of both temporary and permanent museum exhibitions. Plan projectand work schedules for exhibit fabrication. Prepare construction drawings anddocuments from designer's sketches, photographs, and verbal instructions.Design, construct, and install items for exhibits including walls, graphicpanels, vignettes, cases, frames, mounts, interactives, and barriers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (full list can be found online):
Completion of a program in art or industrial art from avocational/technical school and a minimum of five years of work experience indesign, fabrication and installation of museum exhibits or bachelor's degree inrelated field and two years of relevant work experience. Comparable combinationof education and experience may be considered. Must successfully completepre-employment background process. without close supervision. Ability tocommunicate effective orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintaineffective working relationships with co-workers, other agencies, and thepublic. Ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in historical research and writing. Experience infurniture design and carpentry. Experience in audio visual development andproduction. Knowledge and experience in proper artifact handling and artifactmount making techniques. Experience in construction budget estimation anddevelopment. Knowledge of micro-electronics as they apply to museum exhibits.Knowledge of museum quality framing. Knowledge of photographic skills and audiovisual techniques.
