Reporting to the Director, the Collections Manager & Exhibitions Registrar will be responsible for art care, the management of all collections and exhibition loans. Responsibilities include physical care of all artworks and digital registration of permanent collection objects in EmbARK (acquisitions and accessioning, condition reports, legal documents and agreements, documentation, provenance, conservation surveys, receipts); creating agreements and receipts for all collections and exhibition loans as well as condition and incident reports; and maintaining exhibition, insurance, installation, and location records and histories.


Disseminating collection information to students, faculty, researchers, and staff within a collaborative teaching environment, the Collections Manager & Exhibitions Registrar will also disseminate collection information to the general public via digital media/website and develop and implement new-*?media collection related projects. Collections Manager & Exhibitions Registrar is IT proficient and the sole responsible for the digitization of the collection and spearheads the online/website production, presence and updates.


The Collections Manager & Exhibitions Registrar initiates, supervises, and implements all art crating, shipping, and physical transfers for all collections and exhibition loans, supervises art handling and art installations in all cases, and is responsible for the proper management of the facilities: museum and storage areas. Registrar is responsible for Collections Management Plan, Facilities Reports, and Risk Management and Disaster Plans. Registrar ensures Museum’s compliance with AAM best practices and other state and federal laws regarding collection and loans care.


RequirementsREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:




Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Demonstrated management skills and the ability to multitask, trouble shoot and work under pressure
Ability to interface effectively and diplomatically with internal and external constituents
Demonstrated commitment to collections care and website content management
Budget and financial capabilites
Ability to move projects forward in a timely fashion, working both independently and collaboratively
Ability to work evenings and / or weekends as necessary in the performance of assigned responsibilities
Must hold a valid driver’s license


Minimum Education


Bachelor’s degree in Art, Art History, Museum or Curatorial studies or equivalent
Demonstrated three years’ experience with EmbARK
Demonstrated two years’ experience with temporary exhibition registration responsibilities such as supervision and training of art handlers
Proficiency with computers in standardized word processing, spreadsheet programs, databases and basic knowledge of graphic and web design/content programs


Preferred Qualifications


Master’s degree in art history, museum or curatorial studies, or equivalent
More than three years’ EmbARK experience
More than two years’ experience with temporary exhibitions
Database conversion experience
