EXHIBITION DESIGNER
Reporting to the Associate Director for Exhibitions and Collections Management, a newly created full-time position is available for a senior exhibition designer, who will collaborate with the Whitney’s curatorial team to create and implement original designs for permanent collection galleries, large-scale temporary exhibitions, and artist projects.
Responsibilities: Conceive and develop exhibition designs, in consultation with curatorial staff; prepare detailed construction drawings, models, and written instructions for designs as required; design and provide drawings for exhibition furniture; effectively communicate design concepts.
Job requirements include: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, Master’s preferred; minimum five years of museum exhibition design experience; knowledge of twentieth- and twenty-first century American art; outstanding communication skills; collaborative spirit; expertise in the use of computer-aided design software; proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with TMS (The Museum System) a plus. Individual must be organized, self-motivated, and flexible, with an ability to meet deadlines while handling multiple projects simultaneously.
