Artex is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive fine art service provider to museums, galleries, auction houses and private collectors. We specialize in the safe handling of fine art, antiques and museum objects of all kinds. We provide transportation, crating and packing, storage, installation, rigging, and conservation services to museums, galleries, and auction houses, as well as private and corporate collections.

THE ROLE
Under the guidance and direction of a Project Lead, Senior Art Handler or Lead Driver, the Art & Artifact Tech is responsible for art and museum collections handling, packing, local transport and storage maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Under the direction of the Project Lead, Senior Art Handler or Crew Lead, provides professional practices for object care, display, movement, and storage.
• Assist or complete required services as outlined by Bill of Ladings and/or instructions as assigned by the Project Lead or Crew Lead.
• Packs and handles art and museum collections for transit.
• Loads and unloads trucks.
• Provides friendly, quality professional service to customers at all times and develops close working relationships.
• Performs work safely in accordance with Artex safety procedures and operates equipment safely
• Maintains required paperwork
• Identifying and understanding potential and real workplace hazards for personnel or for art and museum objects.
• Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Understands rudimentary & simple aspects of museum object handling, packing and storage methods.
• Able to use basic math i.e. fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication.
• Working knowledge of archival methods and materials.
• The ability to work collaboratively and follow instructions.
• Detail oriented, self-motivated, and a keen sense of mission.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the ability to navigate within the internet required.

EDUCATION
Related bachelor's degree; or 1-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts both orally and in writing with both internal and external customers. Excellent verbal, telephone and written communication skills.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Comfortable climbing ladders and scaffolding and operating forklifts. Be in good physical health with the ability to move swiftly in and out of trucks, as well as lift, push, pull, and support heavy objects, crates, and other sundry items. The ability to dead lift 50 pounds is required.
