The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) seeks a Supervisory Registrar at the NMAI’s Cultural Resource Center in Suitland, MD. Duties of the position include leading the NMAI’s Registration Department and supervising a departmental staff of five as well as the work of additional contractors; overseeing an extremely active collection loan program including negotiating with borrowers and lenders; performing oversight responsibility for cataloguing of collections lots and individual items; overseeing the inventory and movement of the NMAI collection; and managing the acquisition of gifts and donations to the collection, deaccessions, and disposals.
