> This position involves work of a professional nature serving as the Assistant Director of Collections for the Museum Division. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

> · Assisting with the management of the operations of the collections office
>
> · Working with other collections staff to move the collection as well as help with the organization in the new facility and working with exhibit fabrication firms on installation of permanent exhibits
>
> · Planning the merger of the state archaeological collection with the museum collection including the eventual move to the new facility and complete cataloging of the artifacts
>
> · Answering public research requests
>
> · Assisting with artifact acquisition and accessioning
>
>
> Incumbent must be detail-oriented and able to initiate projects as well as work well independently or as a member of a team. The incumbent works under the general supervision of a director.

> Education and experience must meet one of the following criteria:
>
> · A Master’s Degree from an accredited four-year college and university AND one (1) year of related experience acceptable to the employing agency.
>
> or
>
> · A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university AND two (2) years of related experience.
>
>
> Preferred qualifications: At the Bachelor’s or higher level, degree must be in archaeology, museum studies, history, anthropology, southern culture, classics, or art with required experience in collections management.
