THE ROLE
Under the direction of the General Manager plan, direct and/or coordinate the operations of the office. Duties and responsibilities include ensuring that work is performed in an efficient and profitable manner, ensuring that company policies are clearly communicated to and adhered to by employees, manage day-to-day activity in the office, and support the planning of future activity in such a way as to grow the business in the office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Direct and coordinate activities of each department in the office.
· Oversee the daily management of staff;
· Under direction of the General Manager review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement. Identify opportunities for cost containment and efficiencies as well as investment requirements to optimize operations.
· Implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with the General Manager as required.
· Determine staffing requirements, and oversee the recruitment, onboarding and training of new employees.
· Monitor all departments in the office to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide required services within established budgetary limits.
· Under the direction of the General Manager, oversee the performance management process of employees under his/her supervision, inclusive of the annual performance and base pay/bonus review process.
· Oversees all building-related activities. Plans and coordinates all installations (telecommunications, heat, electricity etc.) and refurbishment. Manages the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards. Inspects building’s structures to determine the need for repairs ore renovations.
· Works with problems of moderate scope and complexity where solutions require evaluation of various factors, some of which may present new information.
· Duties and tasks are varied and of moderate complexity.
· Proactively anticipates problems and puts processes in place or escalates to appropriate source to avoid them in the future.
· May serve as a resource to others in the resolution of questions/problems.
· Must be able to make day-to-day decisions regarding operations or sales without input from senior management.
· Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Five plus years of management experience preferably in the transportation, logistics and/or warehouse industry
· Preferred background in arts-related field
· Computer experience with Microsoft Office
· Experience in database - FileMaker preferred
· Demonstrated working knowledge of the art services field
· Demonstrated ability to manage people
EDUCATION:
· Bachelor's degree required; business management or business-related degree preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Works primarily in an office environment, with occasional visits to client’s facilities and other Artex offices. Work is mostly sedentary with intermittent movement throughout work hours. Movement may include walking, bending, lifting, and standing and may occur in offices, warehouses, or similar areas.
