Job description:
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of the Department of Homeland Security is seeking a limited number of applicants for temporary jobs in Orlando, FL. All candidates should possess strong computer, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Eighteen years of age and US Citizenship is required. Selected candidates will be required to complete a background investigation; which includes finger printing. FEMA is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Salaries are comparable to local pay rates.

4011-Historic Preservation Specialist-Miami
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Historic Preservation Specialist will be responsible for conducting Historic Preservation compliance reviews. Understanding of NEPA and NHPA is a plus. Knowledge of Environmental Laws and Executive Orders is desirable.
• Analyzes and recommends implementation of guidance, policies, procedures, and directives to enhance historic preservation compliance strategies and further integrate considerations into the delivery of FEMA's assistance programs.
• Provide assistance to the supervisor and staff on assignments in support of FEMA's disaster programs by researching historic preservation compliance requirements procedures and guidelines to effectively and expeditiously ensure compliance with appropriate historic requirements.
• Ability to draft professional-quality documentation, consultation letters, and email is required.
• The candidate must be able to work independently, possess strong communication skills, and be able to handle a stressful work environment.
• The candidate should possess strong computer, interpersonal, and customer service skills, including Microsoft Office. Google Earth and MS Visio is a plus.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
The Historic Preservation Specialist requires experienced professionals with a background in/as a Historic Architecture, an Architectural Historian, an Architecture and an Archaeologist OR a Bachelor's Degree in one of the following Anthropology, History, Museum Studies, Archeology, Historic Preservation, Architecture, and Cultural Resource Management. Preference is given to individuals who have education and experience to meet the Secretary of Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards and who have prior experience consulting with State Historic Preservation or Tribal Historic Preservation Offices. Prior FEMA experience is not required yet preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
This temporary position requires Must be comfortable in working in a variety of outdoor terrains and conditions. Must be familiar with basic office settings. Must have intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite & Google Earth. Must have knowledge of/experience in Historic Preservation Laws. Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to prioritize and manage tasks. Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and protect confidential and sensitive information.
