Classification: This position is classified as full-time professional, and is non-exempt from overtime compensation.
Coordination:
Works closely with special collections, reference, curatorial, and IT Staff at WRHS.
Maintains liaison with area libraries and regional school of library science and information science to enhance internship opportunities and recruit volunteers.
Coordinates with associated Society endeavors for digital portal, exhibitions, public programs, special events, educational programs, and as otherwise needed.
Supervision: Occasionally supervises interns and volunteers.
Duties:
Oversees all on-line cataloging (original and copy) activities of print materials for the Research Library, including retrospective cataloging of existing collections, and the cataloging of new acquisitions.
Administers Cuadra STAR collection management system.
Coordinates with collections staff for the digitization of library and museum materials.
Manages the development and maintenance of discovery tools and the library’s digital portal.
Maintains awareness of trends in institutional repositories, and will pursue opportunities for enhancing repository services through the adoption of new technologies, linked data practices, funded projects, and partnerships.
Works with archives and special collections staff to ensure proper application of descriptive metadata standards.
Works, in cooperation with archives staff, in effectively managing collection storage spaces.
Assists in the deaccessioning of duplicate and non-mission related materials from the collection.
Works with library staff and committees in selecting published materials for permanent addition to the collections of the library.
Manage and generate custom usage reports for the digital portal.
Maintains associations with a variety of professional organizations to remain current on professional standards as they relate to cataloging and digitization.
Works with the HR associate to secure volunteers and interns for work in library and archives activities in areas relating to the duties enumerated above.
Occasional evening and weekend hours will be necessary to accommodate institutional events and needs.
Undertakes other duties as assigned by the Archives & Special Collections Manager or the Cleveland History Center Director.

RequirementsQualifications:
Knowledge of current cataloging and metadata standards, including RDA, DACS, EAD, MARC, and Dublin Core.
Outstanding analytical, organizational, project, and time management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated proficiency and capability with information technology systems in the context of a special collections library and archival program.
Knowledge of techniques and best practices for scanning and describing multiple formats of materials, including bound volumes, flat paper, photographs, and oversized items.
Evidence of active membership, participation, and involvement in professional and scholarly associations – commitment to stewarding professional standards and involvement.
Ability to be proactive, flexible, and collaborative in order to accomplish library and institutional goals.
Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
Public speaking is a customary duty of the position and essential to outreach efforts.
Experience with legal and ethical standards associated with digitizing archival materials.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in humanities or related field. MLIS with an emphasis on cataloging and on-line access to bibliographic resources.
Experience: Two years of library experience in technical services or cataloging. Additionally, experience cataloging in USMARC format on OCLC desirable.
Essential personal traits: exhibit tact, positive disposition, enthusiasm for the profession, dependability, integrity, strong team focus, and strong work ethic.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel locally.
Requires prolonged sitting, chiefly at a computer terminal. Some bending, stooping, and stretching. Occasionally may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
