The Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) seeks an experienced Lighting Technician. This full-time, exempt position reports to the Installation Manager in the Curatorial Division.
RESPONSIBILITIES


Responsible for all aspects of installation and maintenance of lighting for BMA galleries, offices, back-of-house, and exterior lighting.
Responsible for translating exhibit plans into lighting plots for a variety of collection gallery spaces and temporary exhibitions.
Responsible for lamp and fixture inventory as well as annual lighting budget.
Works in coordination with Art Installation team to meet exhibition opening deadlines.
Works in coordination with Conservation team to meet requirements of light levels.
Works closely with Facilities & Engineering Department to adhere to strict architectural, electrical and fire codes.



RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS


Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in an art related field or professional experience equivalent
Minimum of 3 year’s experience in Museum exhibition lighting.
Ability to read and interpret architectural and electrical drawings.
Familiarity with SketchUp or similar drawing software
Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds, work safely on ladders, operate lifts in very tight spaces, and perform duties at heights over 25 feet.
