The Flagler Museum is seeking an experienced Exhibit Technician to serve as a member of the Curatorial Team, to collaborate closely in the preparation and installation of temporary exhibitions, and in the implementation of the Museum’s program of preventative care and conservation of the collections. The position is responsible for maintenance of displays in the interpreted areas of the historic house museum and temporary exhibitions in the exhibit gallery, development and engineering of enhancements and repairs, and supervising contractors working on site. The position is full-time with benefits.

RequirementsThe Exhibit Technician must be detail-oriented and demonstrate creative problem solving, with an interest in establishing effective systems and solutions. Successful candidates must be capable of multi-tasking within a fast-paced environment and have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Required skills include art handling and packing, exhibit installation, basic carpentry, and knowledge of standard museum practices. Highly desirable skills include specialized knowledge of exhibition design and lighting, crate and display case fabrication, mount making, art preparation, and historic preservation practices. The position requires physical exertion, and the ability to climb stairs or a ladder without fear of heights and lift objects up to 40 lbs.
