Brief Summary:
Responsible for safe handling, packing, presentation, installation, transport, and storage of museum collection artifacts. Construction of museum-quality artifact mounts from design through fabrication. Maintenance of collection storage facilities. Assistance with ongoing collections care, documentation, exhibit installation and de-installation. ** This is a temporary, part-time postion expected to last through 2011.
Education/Experience/Certifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Museum Studies or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three to five years experience in museum care and presentation of artifacts.
- Two or more years experience working in museum or gallery setting preferred.
- Experience handling historical artifacts and/or art objects using accepted museum practices.
- Fabrication and construction skills with various materials such as wood, metal, plastics, and textiles.
- Knowledge and experience with TMS, or equivalent collections database, highly desirable.
