*Job Posting: Deaccession Curator (Temporary Aide)*
*Where*: Denver, CO
*When*: 9/4/18 –6/30/19 (27 hours/week)
*Rate*: $17/hour

*History Colorado is hiring a temporary, limited-term (temporary aide)
position to work on a Deaccession Project in Denver. *
This project will center on targeted survey and refinement of pre-selected
collection formats. This will include evaluation for retaining in the
collection, better documentation for greater use and access of items, and
possible deaccession and disposition of material. Targeted collections
will include duplicates, collections lacking provenance, furniture,
oversize equipment, agricultural implements, etc. Again, the resulting
deaccessions will allow staff to cull the collection, improve access, and
better use limited resources.
Duties will be shared between the History Colorado Center and an off-site
collections storage facility. HC will train for database, numbering
systems, and other HC operations as well as pallet jack and other storage
facility operations.
*Deaccession Curator Duties:*
-Safely move and handle a wide range of artifacts, including oversized and
heavy objects
-Survey, research, compile and prepare paperwork, and make recommendations
for deaccessions
-Update collection records with appropriate information
-Use pallet jacks, tools, and other equipment
*Qualifications:*
-Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, history, art history, anthropology,
or related field
-Demonstrated experience working with deaccessions, including review and
survey of collection, provenance research, paperwork, etc.
-Must be organized and detail-oriented and have experience handling a
variety of museum collections
-Demonstrated experience in team-work
-Ability to use ladders, work at different heights, work on your feet for 8
hours/day, crouch, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds
-Must be able to successfully pass a background check
