This is a full-time, project-based temporary position out of Nicasio, CA. Contracts are slated to end no later than September 2019.

Working under the direct supervision of the Museum Collection Cataloger, the Inventory Technician(s) will join an existing team to help complete a comprehensive inventory project within a strict timeframe

Primary Responsibilities & Accountabilities


Record basic identifying data into an Excel spreadsheet on all 3-dimensional objects, 2-dimensional works, and costumes in the LMNA seed collection;
Take snapshot photographs of objects in the collection using a point-and-touch camera;
Track and record locations of collection objects;
Special projects and other duties as designated by manager or designee


REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience


Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant experience is required;
One (1) year of experience with art handling and/or collections management;
Strong proven experience handling and rehousing artwork and/or museum objects;

Skills


Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy;
Open, collaborative, and proactive communication skills are essential;

Knowledge


Strong working knowledge of spreadsheets, especially Excel;
An understanding of museum collection management methods is preferred;
Familiarity with inventories in either a museum or warehouse setting is preferred;
Familiarity working with textiles and costumes is preferred;

Abilities


Proven flexibility and adaptability to respond to shifting priorities as tasked by a manager;
Strong collaborative spirit for working within a team;
Well-organized;
Proven record of ability to meet deadlines, preferably with project-based work;
Self-motivated and independent;
Able to jump in and get started with a project already underway, and under a tight deadline;
Enjoys detailed and focused work is preferred.
