Description
Performs all related services necessary for preparing exhibition galleries at the Cleveland Museum of Art for the CMA building project. Painting, lighting, building and preparing display cases, making mounts and other support materials for the display of artwork at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
Responsibilities
Assist in all project areas of the Exhibition Production department and the Design and Architecture division as needed.
Assist Museum Painter in display case finishing and any painting projects, with a focus on painting gallery spaces as well as preparing, painting and finish work regarding cases, platforms and other display components. Experience in Spray Booth operations and Spray gun preferred.
Assist Museum Lighting Technician with any tasks relating to the lighting of museum galleries.
Assist Graphics Technician with the production of labels, signage and other forms of graphic identity for the museum.
Assist Museum Cabinet Makers in the finishing of display cases and the transporting of cases to and from galleries.
Assist other areas in the Design & Architecture division when requested by the Head of Exhibition Production.
Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); strong understanding of craft and construction techniques; or equivalent combination of education and experience with a focus on painting gallery space as well as preparing, painting and finish work regarding cases, platforms and other display components. Experience in Spray Booth operations and Spray gun preferred.
