Salary Range:$45,000.00 To 47,000.00 Annually
OBJECTIVE:
Works collaboratively with registrars, preparators, conservators, and curators with the administration and installation of the museum's Permanent Collection, Contemporary art projects and Special Loan Exhibitions.
Onsite and virtual exhibitions will be designed to demonstrate the museum as a forward-thinking institution that is committed to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion (DEAI) by maximizing visibility through various physical and digital installations onsite at the museum and at our satellite campus,.
DUTIES (include and are not limited to):


Assist the Chief Preparator in the installation and de-installation of exhibitions and the preparation of exhibition spaces.
Assist Chief Preparator in the preparation, safe handling, installation, and lighting of art objects, digital art, multi-media installations, archival materials, and other related components for museum exhibitions.
Assist in the safe and timely transport of the permanent collection, gifts, and loans.
Produce and maintain gallery materials, exhibition labels and text, including printing and installation of labels, didactic wall copy and vinyl graphics
Creating Matterport 3D virtual tours of all special exhibitions and selected permanent collection installations.
Packing, crating and uncrating art objects for display, storage and/or transport.
When required, acting as courier for loans and exhibitions, and accompany Chief Preparator or Preparator in Museum’s truck for pickups and deliveries of loan items.
Working early mornings, late evenings and weekends for delivery, pickup and installation of artwork, as scheduled.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date digital and physical installations/ exhibitions calendar
Daily maintenance, replacement of lighting and regular inventory of supplies & equipment
Manage and update Inventory of exhibition cases and vitrines, exhibition labels, wall paint
Assist with other departmental duties, including shop upkeep and organization

QUALIFICATIONS:


Bachelor’s Degree in Art History or Studio Arts is preferred
2-3 years of museum experience handling art
Knowledge of artists’ materials
Experience working with digital art and video installations and AV equipment
Must be able to multi-task and perform in a fast-paced work environment
Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Able to bend, crawl, reach high ceilings, climb ladders, etc.
Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Commitment to DEIA principles in all aspects of work.
Knowledge of museum best practices in art handling and installation.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams is essential
Must be able to work early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as scheduled
Must be able to travel nationally and internationally
