- Properly handles museum artifacts and materials; conducts inventories of the collection; and catalogs the museum artifacts within established guidelines, including indexing, cross referencing, etc. Prepares and installs artifacts for exhibits.

- Manages museum information to include maintaining records and records locations of all objects entering the museum, in storage, or on exhibit. Assists in the transfer or disposal of artifacts.

- Evaluates the condition of artifacts and performs basic preservation work. Identifies preservation needs and performs minor conservation treatments. Monitors the environments in storage and gallery areas.

- Performs basic reference service, assists researchers, and provides information about museum holdings.

Physical Demands/Working Environment: Work is performed in an office setting and storage areas. You must be physically able to perform the duties of this position which include walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying items weighing up to fifty pounds. In some instances the work may be performed in museum galleries.
