Job DescriptionThe Cincinnati Art Museum seeks applicants for the position of Assistant or Associate Conservator of Objects. This is a permanent, full-time staff position.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant or Associate Conservator of Objects will be a vital member in the shared lab space of the Museum’s small, busy conservation department. Working under the direction of the Chief Conservator, the Assistant or Associate Conservator of Objects will have responsibility for the conservation of decorative arts, sculpture, ethnographic, archaeological, mixed media and antiquities in the permanent collection and on loan. The successful applicant will work in collaboration with other Museum staff to devise and implement strategies and procedures for the preservation of a broad range of object-based collections of varied materials, cultures and historical periods, including preventative conservation.

Our encyclopedic art collection contains more than 60,000 works and spans 6,000 years. Job RequirementsMaster’s Degree from a recognized art conservation program and at least three (3) years of work experience. Previous experience with a museum is highly preferred.
Candidates should have a specialization in general objects conservation as well as a demonstrated knowledge of the many factors pertaining to the preservation of a range of objects. The ability to work independently, to organize and maintain work flow, and to seek out solutions to a wide range of treatment issues and preventative care will be advantageous.
