Position Summary:
The Associate Registrar works under the direction of the Head Registrar and in close collaboration with curators and other key staff, focusing on art in the permanent collection or on long-term loan to the museum. The individual will develop and implement projects such as inventories, storage assessments and improvements; and participate in object labeling and housing, creating and updating object records, arranging art shipping and receiving, researching old loans and inventory reconciliation.
Qualifications:
BA in Art, Art History, Library Science, Preservation, and/or Museum Studies (MA preferred) with three to five years museum registration experience or equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
Good computer and digital photography skills and art handling experience required.
Must be a detail-oriented person with good verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with collections management systems highly desirable.
Knowledge of storage requirements for different materials highly desirable.
