Employment Status: Full-time
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Chief Registrar the Registration Assistant will assist with all aspects of collections management including the documentation, management, movement, and care of all permanent collection objects and objects on loan. He/She will work in cooperation with the Curators, the Curatorial Assistants, Photographer, Digital Media Manager, and Design and Installation staff as needed. He/She will work on internal and traveling exhibitions as assigned by the Chief Registrar.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 Handles all external correspondence, Email, phone, fax, and internal requests for collection images; grants publishing rights for collection images.
 Maintains the Photo/Negative/Transparency/Digital Image Files/Database.
 Manages all new photography sessions with the Photographer for collection objects including individual requests from outside the museum and monthly collections photography for NEA grant-funded digitization and online project.
 Responsible for monitoring Mint Museum Randolph environment (IPM and city data spreadsheet).
 Processes incoming donations/acquisitions for the collection. Photographs, numbers, measures, and condition reports new objects. Makes arrangements for local pick-ups and deliveries of gifts/loans.
 Helps maintain the collections database.
 Assesses and implements best practices in collection storage by re-housing and upgrading storage means/materials.
 Participates in Registration staff goal-setting and goal achievement.
 Assists with routine gallery and storage inspection/dusting objects in galleries. Assists with collection inventory and object record reconciliation. Assists with exhibition installation/deinstallation and condition reporting as necessary.
 Clerical duties including filing, photocopying, and compiling condition report notebooks.
 Other duties as assigned by the Chief Registrar.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
EDUCATION: BA in Art History, Museum Studies or related field required.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Two-years Museum Registration experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Must be self-motivated, well organized, detail-oriented and have strong interpersonal (oral and written) communication skills. Must have valid driver’s license.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Full time, some overtime required.
Supervisory responsibilities: Assist with student interns/volunteers

 Working knowledge of Microsoft® software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
 Knowledge of digital camera mechanics, scanning and manipulating digital images; Adobe PhotoShop experience a plus
 Knowledge of The Mint Museum’s collections, goals, values and mission
ADDITIONAL EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION OR PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS: Knowledge and/or background in Art, Art History preferred.
