Phoenix Art Museum is looking for an Assistant Registrar to perform registration and collections management tasks including the proper documentation, handling, installation, shipping, storage, and preservation of works of art in the Museum’s permanent collection, loans, and special exhibitions.

Job Duties Include:
1. Record the condition, receipt, shipment and location of all works of art in the permanent collection, loans and special exhibitions. Issue prescribed documentation.
2. Inspect art objects upon receipt and complete a condition report.
3. Create and maintain computerized and hard copy records of the permanent collection, loans and special exhibitions.
4. Arrange shipping of works of art via carriers and transportation methods in accordance with best practices.
5. Assist in the loading/unloading, packing/unpacking, movement, installation/deinstallation and storage of works of art in accordance with best practices.
6. Provide assistance to the Associate Registrar with the processing of new acquisitions and during Collections Committee meetings.
7. Act as a courier for outgoing loans, special exhibitions and Museum-organized travelling exhibitions.
8. Assist with yearly inventories.
9. Assist Visual Resource Coordinator with photography sessions.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in art history or museum studies; Master’s degree preferred.
2. Minimum of one year experience in museum registration and collections management, and experience with automated collections management databases (TMS preferred).
Knowledge of:
1. Professional museum standards and procedures
2. Registration procedures and methods
Skill and ability to:
1. Be highly organized with close attention to detail;
2. Multitask on several assignments with the ability to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision;
3. Maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of museum staff members, contact service providers, and volunteers with diverse technology backgrounds;
4. Work well independently and as a member of a team;
5. Be highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
6. Lift 30 pounds unassisted, carry objects, climb ladders and stairs, and stand and sit for long periods of time.
