The President WoodrowWilson House is seeking a qualified historic
housekeeper to clean and maintain its collections. The President Woodrow
Wilson House is the home to which President and Mrs. Wilson retired from
the White House in 1921. President Wilson lived here until his death in
1924, and Mrs. Wilson lived in the home until her death in 1961, at which
time she bequeathed the home and its furnishings to the National Trust for
Historic Preservation.

*JOB SUMMARY:*

Part-time (10-plus hours per week or as needed, not to exceed 15 hours per
week).

Regular cleaning and maintaining of the President Woodrow Wilson House and
its collections (including the visitor service spaces, office spaces, and
collections storage spaces), in support of and under the supervision of the
Curatorial staff.

*DUTIES, RELATIONSHIPS & EVALUATION CRITERIA:*

Provide cleaning and maintenance to visitor service areas and office work
areas on a regular schedule, including trash removal, regular vacuuming,
floor cleaning and waxing, cleaning glass surfaces, and maintaining all of
the necessary supplies and tools needed to carry out this function.

Following National Trust Housekeeping Guidelines and accepted museum
practices provide curatorial care in museum rooms and in collection storage
areas including cyclical dusting, vacuuming upholstered furniture and
window treatments, cleaning glass and mirrored surfaces, cleaning silver
and metal objects with approved treatments, and assisting with the seasonal
and cyclical rotation of museum objects.

Provide assistance in the staging of special events, exhibitions, programs,
and tours. Also, assist with exhibitions (object preparation and
installation) and care and management of the historic collection.

*Note: The President Woodrow Wilson House has outside contractors who
regularly clean and maintain the lavatories and staff kitchen.*

*QUALIFICATIONS:*

Two years museum-related experience, B.A. or equivalent. Interest in
museums and exhibitions.
