Job Description
Grand Arts, a non-profit exhibition and fabrication space in downtown Kansas City, is seeking a second of two full time project manager/fabricators for a two-year position. The project managers, in collaboration with artists and curatorial staff, facilitate the production of art exhibitions and objects. Candidates must have solid fabrication skills and experience as well as knowledge and respect for shop courtesy and safety. Project managers are responsible for the highest standard of art handling, packaging, shipping and crating. Grand Arts is a collaborative and creative environment; strong research, organization, time management and communication skills are required.
All applicants need to have a thorough working knowledge of contemporary art practices and media.
Facilities management is another important component of the project manager position. This includes managing the maintenance on the building, shop, green roof, apartment and vehicles as well as gallery facilities including lighting, HVAC, walls and tech equipment. Project managers are responsible for overseeing the complex network of contractors, collaborators, builders and technicians associated with the space and the production of artwork. At least three years related work experience is required, as well as a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Some after-hours work and research-related travel will be required. This is a full-time salaried position with benefits.
