Position: Assistant Registrar for Science
(Temporary Part Time Position)
Department: Registrar Department
Opening Date: September 30, 2013

Position Objective:
The Assistant Registrar is a museum professional experienced in registration and collection management principles. The Assistant Registrar joins a team that works to gain intellectual control of the Museum’s science collection, and is the point of contact for all aspects of the project. The Assistant Registrar reports to the Project Director and works closely with the Director of Science, the Science Collection Assistant, and the Database Administrator.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
• Leads, in consultation with the Project Director, day-to-day implementation of grant project activities.
• Works with science collection assistant and the registrars to connect science specimens to existing records and with the Database Administrator, develops plans for data entry.
• Responsible for implementing process for systematic accessioning and organization of the Science collection.
• Leads in labeling specimens with appropriate tracking number as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, biology, or geology with a minimum of two years experience. Individual must have strong organizational, interpersonal and computer skills. Familiarity with ARGUS software and digital imaging a plus.
