21c Museum Hotels is seeking an experienced, energetic museum
registrar to join the team. 21c is a unique combination of boutique hotel,
contemporary art museum, and restaurant, with three current locations in
Louisville, Cincinnati, and Bentonville, Arkansas, with additional
locations
under both construction and development. The registrar will work from
the museum office in Louisville, and will be responsible for the care and
management of a large collection of contemporary art in all media. The
21c museums, which are free and open to the public 24 hours a day, 7
days week, present thought-provoking solo and group exhibitions that
reflect the global nature of art today, as well as site-specific,
commissioned
installations. 21c loans to and borrows from fine arts institutions all
over
the world and collaborates on a wide range of arts initiatives with artists
and cultural organizations.
The 21c Museum registrar is responsible maintaining records of the art
collection, managing incoming and outgoing loans of artwork, creating
and updating conservation records and insurance schedules, managing
condition reporting on artworks, and generating exhibition checklists,
loan forms, licensing agreements, and other materials supporting the
curatorial and marketing departments. In Louisville, the registrar also
interacts regularly with 21c guests, and the public to provide docent tours
and assist the Museum team with a variety of arts programming. 21c is
seeking a proactive, mature, and detail-oriented individual who works well
as a team member and independently, and demonstrates good judgment,
professionalism, and innovative problem-solving skills.
Minimum requirements for the position:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in art history or a related field; 3 years
experience in museum registration; strong knowledge of digital collection
management programs; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
