Historic Charleston Foundation seeks a Collections Manager to manage and maintain our curatorial collections and to oversee the collections' database system, research and general maintenance oversight for the collections. Established in 1947, Historic Charleston Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the architectural, historical and cultural character of Charleston and its Lowcountry environs, and to educating the public about Charleston's history and the benefits that are derived from preservation. The successful candidate will manage collections documentation using best practices, work with the Curator to install and maintain all storage facilities and exhibit venues and collaborate with the Curator and other staff to conduct research pertaining to the collection.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in museum studies, art history, decorative arts or related field. Master's degree in similar fields is preferred.
* Three years' experience in collections management to include a knowledge of museum standards and practices, and specific knowledge of art handling, collections management, registration and record-keeping practices.
* Proficiency with PastPerfect (or related collections management software) as well as basic computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
* Demonstrated attention to detail and thoroughness.
* The proven ability to adapt and manage a Collection housed in multiple physical locations.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
