FINE ART FRAME FITTER The Fine Art Frame Fitter works with internal teams to fit artworks in to frames. This role is responsible for applying Artech’s high standards to every project and maintaining quality control of Artech’s product.
Responsibilities:
Fit fine art pieces into frames by using the appropriate methods for preparing frames, stretching canvases, and cutting acrylic and glass
Attach hanging hardware and fit art and matting into frames.
Inspect final piece and work with internal teams to resolve any quality issues.
Wrap and pack artworks for delivery to client.
Maintain inventory and location of fitting materials within the shop.
Clean and maintain fitting work space, organize materials and notify management of restock needs.
Apply knowledge of conservation framing techniques to preserve pieces over the course of time.
Review and adhere to work order specifications conferring with designer, project manager and/or technical resources as needed.
Perform occasional site visits with clients to determine appropriate presentation of their collection as needed.
Remain current with proper fitting and techniques and practices including archival trends.
Meet with design and production teams on a regular basis to discuss work flow and provide status updates.
Provide exceptional care for client art works from intake to final delivery by strictly adhering to Artech standards and practices.
Other responsibilities as required to meet job expectations or as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 5 years of high-end art handling experience and frame production is required.
Deep understanding of materials and their properties, including but not limited to matting and acrylic/ glass glazing,
Demonstrated pride in the craft and eager desire to increase skill set.
Ability to adhere to work flows and production deadlines.
Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to apply conservation framing techniques to various media.
Strong knowledge of proper art handling and packaging procedures
Ability to work collaboratively with team members across the organization.
Knowledge of art handling procedures for two-and three-dimensional art objects in a variety of materials, sizes, and weights.
Extensive knowledge of conservation framing design, materials, and practices.
Experience following methods and procedures relating to the handling of irreplaceable art objects.
Experience in safely using a variety of framing and shop tools.
Ability to be detail oriented with uncompromising attention to quality.
Organizational skills and self-management demonstrated in the workplace.
Ability to maintain client confidentiality at all times.
Ability to interpret work orders and working drawings.
Creativity, professionalism, and enthusiasm to tackle challenges.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position including ability to climb ladders, physically able to confidently lift and flip art up to 30 pounds.
A valid Washington driver's license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
Must pass full background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Studio Art, Art History.
Some light sewing abilities are preferred.
