Storage Preparator
The Storage Preparator will complement our storage, transport, and art handling services. This position will report to the Collections Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage dock and storage areas for multiple locations.
Ensure the safe handling and storage of all artwork in the storage and dock areas.
Maintaining Artech security protocols regarding access to, information about, and movement of objects held in our care.
Management of our viewing room’s schedule and operation. Work closely with the Facility Manager for viewing room improvements and maintenance.
General labor estimates as requested by the Assistant Registrar(s), Collections Manager, or Project Managers.
Maintaining overall cleanliness, security and safety of Artech’s many storage areas. This includes maintaining cleaning schedules and performing regular sweeping, bug trap inspection, and rack cleaning. Dates of maintenance and any anomalies found must be recorded.
Proper completion and filing of written and digital records (packing slips, condition reports, receive/release forms, check requests, work orders, and art movement forms). Accuracy is critical.
Log book management for both storage and dock activity.
Generating weekly movement reports for key individuals (detailing ship/receipt dates, objects for pack, objects for shuttle).
Designing and implementing new logging procedures for all incoming and outgoing parcels.
Working with Assistant Registrar(s), Collections Manager, and Facility Manager on space optimization of Artech’s storage racking.
Interfacing with Project Managers to ensure artwork location or planned destination is listed in Bills of lading.
Escorting visitors within our warehouse, viewing room, and storage areas.
Always respecting the confidentiality of our clients and the projects we work on.
Ensuring any approved disposal of item(s) from storage has client names removed, maintaining confidentiality.
Adhere to all Artech safety policies. All safety concerns must be reported to your manager, and immediately addressed or corrected.
Maintain full compliance with CCSF/DSA regulations.
Manage all dock activity, both receiving and releasing objects to 3rd party transporters, signing in all guests, and logging all movement.
Assisting with the maintenance and cleanliness of the docks.
Other duties as assigned/agreed.
REQUIREMENTS
High competency on warehouse lifting equipment (i.e. forklift, order picker, etc.)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a high volume art service company, museum, or gallery.
Excellent customer service skills
Attention to detail and accuracy in communication.
Clean, hygienic appearance
Competency in the MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel
Experience with Gallery Systems’ TMS is a plus
Ability to lift 75lbs
Must pass full background screening and TSA STA
Must maintain a clean and presentable work area.
This job is full time (40 hours/week), with opportunities for overtime and off-hours shifts. Regular schedule will be M-F 8:30-5:00 in the Renton/Kent area.
