THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Museum Relocation Team Supervisor, the Art/Artifact handler will be responsible for safely handling, deinstalling, packing/crating, and moving small and medium artifacts of a major museum collection during a long-term relocation project related to construction at the museum. The art/artifact handler may also be responsible for assisting in the disassembly, packing/crating and moving of large artifacts and their components.
Duties and responsibilities of the position include:
· Safely handling, deinstalling, packing and moving small and medium artifacts.
· Installing and deinstalling protective material over large artifacts prior to, and following, demolition activity.
· Assisting with videography of large artifacts.
· Safely operating forklifts and aerial lift equipment.
· Working effectively and cooperatively as part of a team during complex and coordinated move and inventory activity.
· Assisting with disassembly, packing, crating and movement of large artifacts.
Required
· Bachelor’s degree in studio art, architecture, museum studies or art related field preferred; High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
· Minimum of 1-2 years of experience handling, packing and/or moving 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works of art and artifacts which are part of a museum collection.
· Must have the ability to work flexible schedules.
· Must have the ability to work at heights up to 75 feet.

Forklift Certification
Aerial Lift Certification
Rigging Experience
Extensive training will follow upon the hiring of successful candidates.
