Art Prep I (Regular, Full -Time) Art Preparation & Installation
Reporting to the API, Manager, Exhibitions the Art Preparator I, executes work related to LACMA’s extensive and diverse art programs: exhibitions, permanent collections, and outgoing and incoming loans. Installs and maintains permanent galleries, special exhibition and temporary exhibition spaces, and art storage areas. Uses appropriate materials, equipment, and methods to display, store, pack and transport works of art. Executes the unpacking/packing, installation, disassembly, and storage of works of art, and associated materials for permanent and special exhibition galleries. Responsibilities
Works on assignments that are routine in nature
Assists in the movement, packing and crating of works of art
Under supervision, performs basic carpentry and painting tasks
Assists in gallery installation and de-installation
Adheres to LACMA safety procedures
Keeps work areas neat and organizes supplies, equipment, and digital files
Collaborates across departments to pack, crate, receive, deliver, and install works of art and exhibitions
Performs other duties or special projects as assigned
Maintains regular and reliable attendance
Benefits
The expected hourly rate for this Los Angeles, CA based position is $22.90 - $23.50, subject to change, and the position is eligible for LACMA’s comprehensive benefits package, including pension plan.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
1-3 years related experience
License to operate a variety of vehicles and forklifts
Travels to and from LACMA locations across Los Angeles
Strong physical and digital organizational skills.
Familiar with art object handling and installation, and art object packing and crating
Competent in woodworking, cabinetry, metalworking, plastics, painting or decorative finishes, general construction, and/or moving heavy artwork by rigging
Strong hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness and reasoning skills, large and small motor skills, and sensitivity to and understanding of materials
Proficient with Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Docs
